I took this picture last week of the Columbus Magnolia, before I knew its full potential:
and then this one yesterday after it opened, I should have put something next toit for reference, the blossoms on this species are huge...much larger than the soulangiana.....
I wish you could smell the sweet fragrance!! Reminds me of the perfuume 'Kai', maybe some citrus with plumeria and sweet peas...just really nice.
This is a hybrid offered from Monrovia: Magnolia x veitchii "Columbus". It grows about 30 foot tall by 15 feet wide, making it a "sturdy choice for urban plantings" says Sunset.
